Arrest made after 75-year-old Oakville mall security guard violently assaulted

Halton police have made an arrest after a 75-year-old man working as a mall security guard was assaulted and seriously injured in Oakville.

Authorities were called to South Oakville Centre in the Rebecca Street and Third Line area around 1:45 p.m. on Monday for reports of an assault.

Police arrived and located a man with serious head injuries. Investigators confirmed the male victim was working as a security guard at the mall and got into an altercation with another man in the north section of the parking lot.

A 75-year-old man was taken to a local hospital and remains in serious but stable condition.

Police arrested 22-year-old James Buckland of Oakville at the scene. The accused has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
