Man charged in woman’s death in North York shelter

A 43-year-old man is in custody following the death of a woman in North York.

Police say they were called to a shelter in the area of Yorkland Boulevard and Consumers Road just after 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 30 and asked by staff at the building to assist with a trespass situation involving a man and a woman.

When the officers arrived they spoke with a man and later discovered a woman’s body in the apartment.

Kenneth Bellamy has been charged with second-degree murder.

The name of the victim is being withheld at this time by police.
