Woman hit by falling tree branch at Trinity Bellwoods, seriously injured

A woman remains in critical condition in hospital after being struck by a falling tree branch at Trinity Bellwoods.

Toronto police were called to the popular park around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday for reports someone had been injured.

Authorities said a woman was located with serious injuries after a falling tree branch hit her. She was taken to a local hospital via emergency run.

There has been no further update on her condition.

Eyewitness Mohamed Al-Rahawi was one of the first on the scene to assist the woman before emergency services arrived.

“I heard a sound and I looked and I got up and I saw the branch coming down and I screamed ‘Hey, move!'” he tells CityNews.

“I saw the old lady, she turned around and tried to run …and the big tree branch came down and smashed her right into the ground.”

Al-Rahawi adds he could see blood all around the woman’s face and that it looked like “life was leaving her body.”
