Man, 87, missing since last week after sailing Lake Ontario

Police in Durham Region say the search continues for an 87-year-old man not seen for days since sailing out on Lake Ontario near Pickering, Ont.

Officers attended the Bayly Street and St. Martins Drive area on October 2 at around 8 p.m. for a wellness check. An investigation began after police did not locate the man at his residence.

He has not been heard from or seen since.

Durham police said Manfred, who goes by Fred, is described as a white male with a medium build, standing around five-foot-ten, with grey hair.

He was last seen wearing an orange/red hat, blue shirt, and beige pants.

His sailboat, “Passat,” is described as 25 feet long, with a blue haul and Ontario ID 50E99759.
