Man dies in fiery car crash along Lake Shore Boulevard

A man has died after a single-vehicle crash along Lake Shore Boulevard West and Colborne Lodge Drive near High Park.
Toronto police were called to the area just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday for reports that a vehicle had crashed into a light post.
The vehicle caught on fire, and the driver had to be extricated.
A 24-year-old man has since been rushed to the hospital in a critical, life-threatening condition. He died of his injuries on Thursday.
Toronto Fire Chief Jim Jessop said nearby passengers tried rescuing the man, but the flames became difficult to contain.
Police tell 680 NewsRadio speed is a likely factor, as the man lost control and the vehicle flew off the road and into a pole.
The investigation is ongoing.
