Pedestrian killed by train near Rouge Hill Station in Scarborough

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train near Rouge Hill Station in Scarborough on Wednesday evening.
Police say were called to an area near Stotts Terrace and Lawrence Avenue East just before 8 p.m.
Metrolinx spokeswoman Anne Marie Aikins said the person was hit by a VIA train going eastbound just east of the station.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
GO trains on the Lakeshore East line were turning back at Guildwood and Pickering stations and GO buses are shuttling passengers in between for several hours. Normal operations resumed just before 10:30 p.m.
