One man is in serious condition after a fight broke out on the border of Peel and Halton regions.
According to police, just after midnight on Wednesday a fight broke out between three men in one car and several other males in other vehicles.
It happened at Steeles Avenue West and James Potter Road, near Mavis Road, and carried over to the Winston Churchill Boulevard and Steeles Avenue area — a short distance away.
Paramedics say one man was rushed to a trauma centre with a critical head injury. Police said his injuries are now considered serious.
Police said a second man also suffered a head injury, his condition is considered serious but not life-threatening. A third man was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
All three injured men were in the same car.
According to police, the suspect vehicles surrounded the victims’ vehicle and a number of men attacked the three victims with baseball bats.
The victims range in age from 26 to 30 years of age and they all are from the Brampton area.
Police believe this was a targeted attack and that all parties knew each other, but they do not believe this was gang related.
Sgt. Duane Bilton said it’s believed the motive for the attack was “a money debt of sorts.”
The hunt is still on for suspects.
North and southbound Winston Churchill is completely closed between 5 Sideroad (Embleton Rd) and Steeles Ave while police investigate.
Anyone with information on the incident is being asked to contact Halton police.
