When you think of summer you usually think of hot, sunny days and balmy nights, right? Summer this year has also meant some heavy lifting with your umbrella arms getting a workout.
If you think it’s been a rainy summer you would be right. New all-time monthly precipitation records were set in Toronto and Windsor in July.
Environment Canada said communities across the province saw greater than normal amounts of rainfall.
Environment Canada’s Jeff Coulson told 680News that the downtown Toronto observation site has been there since the 1830s and July’s rain was off teh charts.
“The 181.6 millimetres received in July right downtown was the wettest since way back in 1841.”
Pearson Airport saw 221 millimeters of rain in July.
“What was even more significant is we’ve never actually had that much precipitation in any one month at Pearson since records began back in the late 1830s,” Coulson added.
So what about August’s? Coulson said while it looks like near normal levels, just one severe storm could bring a month’s worth of rain.
