About Melissa

Melissa Nakhavoly is an accomplished journalist with over a decade of hosting and reporting experience. Prior to joining the Rogers Media family in 2018, Melissa started her broadcasting career in radio as a traffic reporter and news reader for several stations across the GTA and Ottawa. Her career has taken her across Canada. She received her first break in television in Kingston where Melissa worked as an anchor and video journalist. Her passion for learning and exploration lead Melissa out west where she was an integral part of a morning show team in Saskatoon. She spent two years as a host and live reporter interviewing notable public figures before moving back to her home province of Ontario. She spent three years covering major events from numerous elections, the international auto show and breaking news in Windsor-Essex and Detroit, Michigan leading both TV and digital newscasts as a host and video journalist before joining the 680News and CityNews teams in Toronto in 2018. Melissa is graduate from York University with a degree in Communications and Fine Arts. She also graduated with highest honours from Seneca College receiving a post-graduate diploma in broadcast journalism. A proud Torontonian, Melissa was raised in the city’s north-west in Downsview. She is a first generation biracial Canadian of Peruvian and Persian heritage. She is passionate about community, social justice and giving a voice to those who need it. When not in the field or studio, Melissa enjoys going for a good long run through city parks, listening to Spanish music and hanging out with her beloved cat James.
