Police Officer Loses Finger During Early Morning Raid

A Toronto Police officer’s finger was severed during a raid Wednesday morning.

The officer was taken to Toronto Western Hospital to undergo surgery to reattach the severed finger, but it wasn’t successful.

The unfortunate accident took place while police were executing a search warrant around 6:30am in the Weston Road and Eglinton area.

Police were trying to track down members of the ‘Pump Bandits’, who got their name because of the pump shotguns they reportedly wield during heists.

Police allege they were responsible for a violent jewelry store robbery in February that sent two elderly people to hospital with life threatening injuries.

Two suspects were taken into custody on Thursday.  More details are set to be released on Friday and police say more arrests are likely.
