Evergreen Line decision put off again

LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – A decision on the fate of the Evergreen Line has been postponed yet again. The province says TransLink won’t have to come up with its $400 million share by the end of the year.

The delay means the province, TransLink and local politicians have more time to come up with a plan on how to raise that money, instead of increasing property taxes.

Langley City Mayor Peter Fassbender tells the Province newspaper the December 9th vote has been put off and there is no fixed deadline for a decision on how to raise TransLink’s share of the Line, but right now it’s looking like early spring.

Some options being considered at this point include a vehicle levy or more taxes on gas.
