Victim’s Family Appeals To Murder Suspect

A day after police named a 23-year-old rapper as a murder suspect, police and the victim’s family publicly appealed for him to surrender.

Pierre Oliver Ellis is accused of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 16-year-old Keyon Campbell, also known as “Ace,” three years ago.

On Dec. 2, 2007, Keyon was gunned down after he walked out of his townhouse on Empringham Drive to start the car for his mother. He managed to make his way back into his front hallway, where his mother found him bleeding. He was pronounced dead at hospital a short time later.

Homicide detectives say forensic evidence collected at the scene led to the break in the case last month. Until then, they didn’t have a lab capable of analyzing it.

“It’s been a long investigation and it’s tough,” Det. Sgt Hank Idsinga said at a press conference on Tuesday. “It’s especially tough on the family to have these wounds reopened after over three years.”

Ellis, who also goes by the name “Capitol P,” proclaimed his innocence last year in a YouTube video, but his lyrics typically push violence, drugs and money.

He’s described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium build and black hair. He is considered armed and dangerous and still living in the GTA.

“We definitely urge the accused to turn himself in,” said Keyon’s aunt, Jackie Bishop-Martin. “Do the right thing. It’s been three years. We think we’ve had enough pain.”

“I prayed for this day to come,” said Sandra Lokey, Keyon’s mother. “I know it’s now the beginning. But even when justice is served, it will never end. He was my life. He was my only son.”
