Police identify remains of 2nd missing Whitby woman found in Kawartha Lakes

By Michael Ranger

Durham police have now confirmed a second set of human remains found in Kawartha Lakes last month are those of an 85-year-old woman from Whitby.

Tatilda Noble and her 58-year-old daughter, Ava Burton, were reported missing on Oct. 14.

The pairs remains were found ten days later on The Glen Road in Mariposa Township. The remains of Burton were identified in late October.

Police arrested the grandson and son of the victims, 30-year-old Joshua Burton, last month.

He has been charged with two counts of second degree murder.

Police have not revealed how the women died but say post-mortem results indicate obvious signs of trauma to the recovered remains.
