A Brampton man is under arrest and police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for another man in connection with an alleged assault on Elnaz Hajtamiri, weeks before she was abducted in Wasaga Beach, Ont.
York Regional Police have arrested 23-year-old Riyasat Singh and charged him with attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and mischief under $5,000.
Police are also searching for 23-year-old Harshdeep Binner of Brampton, who is wanted on the same charges.
Investigators say they were called to an address on King William Crescent on December 2021 after the 37-year-old Hajtamiri was attacked with a frying pan in an underground parking garage. The attack was interrupted by a citizen and the suspects fled the scene.
On January 12, 2022, Ontario Provincial Police say Hajtamiri was kidnapped from her home in Wasaga Beach by three men wearing police gear but not actual police uniforms.

OPP say the suspects connected to Hajtamiri’s abduction then fled the house in a vehicle described as a white SUV, believed to be a Lexus RX. They’re considered armed and dangerous. Photo courtesy: OPP.
On Tuesday, a video statement from Elnaz’s mother — Fariba Hajtamiri — who lives in Iran, was released, pleading for any information on her daughter’s whereabouts.
“We desperately need your help. …I beg of you as a mother to guide us and tell us everything you know,” said Fariba.
Provincial police say there is no clear motive for Hajtamiri’s abduction and no ransom demand has been received to date.
Hajtamiri is described as 5-foot-3, with a slim build and shoulder-length black hair. Anyone with any information is asked to call the dedicated tip line at 1-833-728-3415.
