A $70-million lottery ticket sold in Scarborough has still not yet been claimed by the rightful winner, leaving Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) officials scrambling to determine the next steps.
An OLG spokesperson said a LOTTO MAX jackpot draw from June 28, 2022, has gone unclaimed to date, and will expire one year from that date.
The $70 million winning ticket was purchased at an authorized lottery retailer in Scarborough. The winning numbers for that Lotto Max draw are 8, 19, 22, 41, 42, 46, 47 and Bonus 10.

“The ticket expires tomorrow, and we hope if someone tries to validate the ticket that, it’s done before 10:30 p.m. That’s when we have what we call a draw break,” Tony Bitonti, OLG’s Director of Media Relations, told CityNews 680.
Bitoni explained that the “draw break” is when OLG terminals stop selling tickets for that night’s draw. He said it stops for about 15-20 minutes and then starts selling tickets for the next day’s draw.
Last month, Bitoni addressed the possibility that the owner of the winning ticket may have passed away.
“We have had customers who have passed away before claiming tickets in smaller prizes,” he said.
“There are a million scenarios out there that could possibly happen. We are just hoping that the customer is still around and has maybe stored the ticket somewhere in a jacket, in a glove compartment, or in the junk drawer in the kitchen.”
OLG has maintained hope that someone will come forward to claim the prize money.
