Man facing child porn charges is employed as Toronto paramedic

A man facing child pornography charges is employed with the Toronto Paramedic Services, a city spokesperson confirmed on Friday.

Toronto police arrested 43-year-old Steven Weiler of Toronto on Thursday after officers located a quantity of child sexual abuse material during a search warrant at a residence in the College Street and Bay Street area.

Weiler was charged with two counts of child pornography and accessing child pornography.

On Friday, a City of Toronto spokesperson told CityNews that Weiler is a current employee with Toronto Paramedic Services.

“At this time, Mr. Weiler has been placed on paid administrative leave. We are unable to provide further comment as this is an active police matter,” a representative said.

“The City of Toronto is deeply disturbed by these serious allegations and will cooperate fully with the Toronto Police Service investigation. We send our deepest sympathies to the victims and their families.”

Weiler was expected to appear in court on Friday morning.
