Sunday night’s Juno Awards ceremony in Toronto had at least one unwelcome guest.
An Ottawa doctor accused of stalking country crooner Shania Twain was arrested when he was spotted on the floor of the Air Canada Centre just moments before Twain was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
Twain’s handlers spotted Dr. Giovanni Palumbo, 50, and police arrested him without incident.
Palumbo was already forbidden from going within 500 metres of the singer, and now faces charges of breaches of court order.
Media reports state that Palumbo had previously shown up at Twain’s Muskoka cottage and sent letters and floral arrangements to her home in Switzerland.
During a previous arrest, it’s alleged he was wearing a Shania T-shirt and carrying her autobiography.
Palumbo will remain in custody until a bail hearing on April 1.
