Teen arrested in fatal stabbing near Weston and Lawrence

Toronto police have arrested a 17-year-old male in the stabbing death of a a 30-year-old man in the city’s northwest end.

Emergency crews were called to Weston Road near Lawrence Avenue West area around 5 a.m. on Friday.

Police said the man was attacked and stabbed at an apartment building and then chased onto the street where he collapsed.

Paramedics said the victim suffered multiple stab wounds.

He was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

The suspect cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

This is the city’s 67th homicide of the year, which is one more than the number for all of 2017.


Correction: One person who witnessed the incident told 680 NEWS that the victim got off a TTC bus and was ambushed by the suspect, who then stabbed him multiple times. Police have since provided an update, which has been noted in the above story.

Update to the homicide number: Police now say that a vehicular death from last week was homicide 66.
