Toronto police are making it easier for cyclists and pedestrians to report minor collisions in Toronto, launching a new kiosk in Liberty Village.
Previously, cyclists and pedestrians had to travel to locations in Scarborough and North York to file a report.
The new kiosk in the main lobby of the Traffic Services station at 9 Hanna Ave. will solely serve pedestrians and cyclists involved in minor collisions where no medical attention is needed.
It opened on Monday, and runs Monday-Friday between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., except for holidays.
“We want to ensure we are serving the majority of cyclists and pedestrians who live and work downtown, who do not have a motor vehicle to easily get to one of the collision reporting centres. We are hopeful that the new location will be beneficial to them,” Traffic Services Acting Inspector Paul Qureshi said on the Toronto Police website.
The new reporting centre opened on the same day that Toronto police reopened its stations to the public following COVID-related closures across the city.
“Now that our stations are again open to the public, we are pleased to finally be able to launch this new reporting kiosk to better serve pedestrians and cyclists, allowing them to report minor collisions in the downtown area instead of having to travel to our locations in Scarborough and North York,” Supt. Scott Baptist said in a release.

A new mobile reporting centre has also been launched, but all reports started online must be finalized in person at one of the reporting centres.
“The report is not considered complete until the person making the report has attended with valid piece of identification,” Toronto police said.
“Police will continue to attend collisions when they are reported from the scene. This new option is available for cyclists and pedestrians when not reporting from the scene of the collision.”
Toronto police note that anyone attending one of its facilities in-person must undergo a COVID screening, and masks are required until March 21, 2021, when the province lifts the mask mandate.
